You will be working directly with the CFO helping guide investment decisions through timely financial reporting and critical analysis.

 Opportunity at a Glance

Conduct day-to-day property-related accounting transaction support, as well as provide accurate and timely financial information to senior management, partners, third-party accountants, Property Managers, and others to assist in property decision making.

Opportunity to execute and improve in the following areas:

  • Prepare quarterly financial statement and package for CFO: provide Management Summary and post to secure website, including debt summaries.
  • Prepare audit and tax work papers for a portfolio of properties: provide a closed trial balance for each property, supporting work papers for each balance sheet account, and complete fixed asset reports using BNA or other applicable software; work with external auditors and lenders.
  • Assist with budget preparation: complete depreciation and amortization projections, provide debt payment data, compute rent projections, prepare reimbursable charges for tenants, and assist the property manager with the overall budget and forecast preparation.
  • Review/perform accounting functions related to billing and accounts receivable: input new tenant leases, bill tenant rents monthly, calculate and bill tenants for all reimbursable charges.
  • Respond to tenant, property, and owner accounting-related inquiries on time.
  • Perform other miscellaneous property accounting functions: assist Property Managers with coding accounts payable invoices and miscellaneous cash receipts, calculate management fees monthly, prepare a summary of capital projections quarterly.
  • Complete project summary accounting tasks: maintain a current debt summary report, provide reporting requirements to assist CFO.
  • Maintain an understanding of property lending requirements/compliance and provide required reporting to lenders.
  • Understand and support the property lease administration process.
  • Advisory support for property tax accounting.
  • Advisory support for real estate property tax evaluations and appeals.
  • Lead onboarding of new development and acquisitions set up in our accounting systems.
  • Assist with Treasury Management functions, including initiating and approving wires.
  • Additional duties or special projects as assigned by CFO, including process and financial system improvements.

Knowledge, Education, and Skills Needed to be Successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 4+ years of Accounting-oriented work experience
  • Strong Excel Skills
  • CPA or CPA eligible is a plus
  • Knowledge of MRI, Yardi, AVIDXchange or other real estate industry-related accounting software is preferred.
