A top Commercial Real Estate company has retained GSB Search to identify an experienced Property Accountant for their team.  The company focuses on the development, redevelopment, and investment of retail, restaurant, and shopping center properties throughout the Midwest.

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all financial transactions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), for multiple properties. This role demands a high level of precision and the ability to produce timely, accurate financial reports. Key Responsibilities:

• Accounts Management: Handle all aspects of AP and AR efficiently. Ensure that all financial transactions are processed accurately and on time.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare comprehensive financial statements monthly. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas of improvement.
• Tax Coordination: Collaborate with external accountants to facilitate and streamline year-end tax reporting and planning.
• Budget Oversight: Assist in the development and monitoring of property budgets. Ensure financial practices align with company objectives.
• Compliance and Regulations: Stay abreast of industry regulations, ensuring all accounting practices comply with legal standards and company policies.

Knowledge, Education, and Skills Needed to be Successful:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting is a plus but not required
• 6 years of Accounting-oriented work experience with at least 2 years of property accounting
• Strong Excel Skills
• Knowledge of Yardi or other real estate industry-related accounting software such as MRI or AVIDXchange.
