In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing highly effective processes that ensure the quarterly and annual SEC and IFRS financial statements are accurate and prepared in a timely manner. This is a key individual contributor role that will help drive change for this large and dynamic Kanas City employer.

The ideal candidate should have experience with public companies or significant experience with financial reporting from public accounting.

What you’ll do in your role.

  • Engage with financial reporting team members and cross-functional business partners in the preparation of SEC (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Investor Factbook) filings
  • Liaise with international reporting counterparts in the streamlining and delivery of IFRS reporting requirements.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business drivers of a dynamic, industry-disrupting company and their effect on the financial results. Analyze these business drivers to support internal and external messaging.
  • Leverage systems (BPC, Workiva, Alteryx, Excel) to play a key role in the automation and modernization of accounting processes. Assist in implementation efforts and provide training to empower partners to self-serve.
  • Play a key role in ongoing process improvement areas in SEC reporting including electronic work papers, inter/intra-report validations, cash flow statement workbooks, preparation and approval workflow, calendar set, and task listing.
  • Document source and dependent relationship for all information presented externally.
  • Participate in enterprise projects to ensure appropriate requirements are developed based on a solid understanding of the impacted systems and the transactional flow and ensure regression testing is performed.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors

The experience you’ll bring.

5 – 7 years of progressive financial experience in public accounting – Big 4 or regional firm preferred;

  • Prior experience in SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting or similar role;
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP accounting and reporting standards;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and analytical skills;
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Workiva, BPC, and SAP BW preferred.
